What is MICE ?
MICE is an acronym for the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions tourism segment. The “E” sometimes refers to events and the “C” to conventions. It is a type of tourism in which large groups are brought together for a specific purpose, on a well-planned agenda mainly centered around a theme or topic, an industry, trade, a special interest group or an education topic. This is therefore a business-oriented segment, involving obligatory (or non-discretionary) travel. The Incentives part of MICE is slightly off-sync. Though it is related to business – it is usually provided to employees or dealers/distributors as a reward for targets met or exceeded, or a job well done-it tends to be leisure based.
